Stonk Knots is a family partnership that specialises in hand crafted knotwork and rope design, based in the South West of England, UK.
Over the years we have built up a reputation for distinctive high quality products and reliable service.
Within the past 5 years, we have also fulfilled a growing demand in the making of stair ropes and barrier rope hand rails.
With over 14 years of experience, James Watson has an extensive knowledge of ropes and practical knotwork.
As part of a crafts partnership with china painter, Patri-Loreto Nievas, James has worked in and around Cornwall since 1994, selling and exhibiting work through shops, galleries and at shows nationwide.
More recently, Patri-Loreto has turned her skills to website design. In the summer of 2004 Stairropes.com. was launched, followed in 2006, by our Stonk Knots website.
As a result of this internet exposure and increase in orders, both partners are now involved full time in the business.
Inevitably, we do see the business expanding. But we also know that our customers like to deal with us because of our personal and straightforward approach; many of them appreciate being able to discuss their requirements with someone who really does know the ropes!
Our aims therefore, are to keep the business small and accessible, and to ensure we preserve our individual style - By retaining control of the design and manufacuring processes, and by harnessing the creative skills and strengths within the family.
The websites Stonk Knots.co.uk., Stairropes.com. and BarrierRope.com. are now the primary shop windows and points of liaison for our rope craft business.
